Andy Baumgarten

About Andy:

Andy Baumgarten leads the Gene Edited Breeding and Agronomic Traits Portfolio within Corteva’s Biotechnology R&D function. This team integrates gene editing, cellular, and other technologies into Corteva product development to deliver superior product performance.

Andy received his Ph.D. in Plant Genetics from the University of Minnesota in 2004. He joined Pioneer Hi-Bred in 2025 and worked to deploy predictive breeding concepts within Pioneer’s northern maize breeding programs. Andy has also contributed the development of Pioneer’s first AquaMax products and led the deployment of Pioneer’s Boreas wind machine for increased maize standability resistance. More recently, Andy and his team have worked to integrate new predictive, genomic, and other technologies directly within Corteva’s breeding programs.
